We have an update on a fatal accident near Reno we wrote about a while back, involving the death of a man on the Fourth of July where it looked like a young lady was going to be arrested for driving under the influence and possibly charged with manslaughter or vehicular homicide for hitting the man on her bicycle. Well, as we have learned from any number of cases, like a recent case of a vehicle accident near Las Vegas that killed a family, and where the man initially charged, and who was pilloried in the press and in the court of public opinion but was actually not the driver and never charged, things aren’t always what they appear. The recent news is that the woman who allegedly killed a Sparks, Nevada man in this vehicle accident was not charged with anything following the accident. The vehicle accident near Washoe County occurred when the woman was riding her bicycle on Donner Pass Road a little before 9:30 in the evening of the Fourth of July, just as the fireworks were starting for the celebration. Her bicycle allegedly struck a 46 year old man. The man was taken to the hospital with head injuries, which he later succumbed to following the accident. The woman was initially arrested for driving under the influence in Nevada, specifically suspected of bicycling under the influence of alcohol, which is the same penalty and crime as driving a car drunk. But, as previously stated, she was let go when the deputy district attorney of the county decided that the evidence did not indicate that a case should be brought against the young woman.
